They are stored on your hard drive also, as .dat files. I you look in
%userprofile%\Application Data\MSN Messenger they're in the subfolders. The
only way you can see them is with Messenger or with a program that is able to
translate them into jpg format.
You should be able to go into MSN Messenger and click on your Display Picture..
Then remove the ones you don't want. If you're not able to get to it that way,
click on "Tools" in your main window, then "Change My Display Picture".
