Subject: Microsoft Internet Explorer
My brother just hooked me up with frontiernet and I am already in trouble.
When I click on Internet Explorer I get message "the page cannot be
displayed". It was working when he left. I was getting message from EZ
firewall to allow or deny sites. I didn't read the screen thoroughly and may
have denied access?

Stephen,

I click on your name and the screen keeps reverting back to the dialogue box
containing my question--I can't read your response?

Here's Stephen's reply:

"I am not familiar with EZ Firewall, but it sure sounds like you may have
blocked
it. I'd suggest reaching out for your brother and asking him for help since
he
set you up, or with frontiernet, if they are the ISP and supplied the
firewall.
If there is an option to disable the firewall, see if that resolves your
access
problem. Then you'll know you will have to configure it."

Subject: Re: Microsoft Internet Explorer
This article should help:

I cannot surf the Internet since installing EZ Firewall

**** Effective May 17, 2005, we will be discontinuing support for:

      -          eTrustT EZ Firewall version 1.0
      -          eTrustT EZ Firewall version 2.0
      -          eTrustT EZ Firewall version 3.7
      -          eTrustT EZ Firewall version 4.5

For more information, please Click Here

      Summary:

After installing EZ Firewall, I am unable to access the Internet

      This Document Applies to:

a.. eTrustT EZ Firewall All Versions

            Resolution:

To resolve this issue, please follow the instructions provided
below:

1.. Double click the EZ Firewall icon in the system tray.

2.. This will open the firewall window.

3.. Ensure that the 'Lock' icon at the top is in the unlocked
position.

4.. To the left of the window, click 'Program Control'

5.. Now click the 'Programs' tab from the top

6.. This will list all the programs currently configured on
your computer for internet access.

7.. Look for the following programs:
1.. Internet Explorer (Netscape, Mozilla, Opera), ensure
that the permissions under 'Access' and 'Server' have a green check mark
(allow).
2.. Generic host process for win32, (Win XP and Win 2000
only). Again, ensure that the permissions under 'Access' and 'Server' have a
green check mark (allow).
3.. Application Layer Gateway, ensure 'Access' and 'Server'
have check marks.

8.. Try accessing the internet again. If you are still unable
to surf, remove all instances of Internet Explorer and Generic host process
for win 32 from the program list. You can remove them by right click the
name and selecting remove from the popup window.

9.. Once this is done, try accessing the internet again. You
should get a firewall alert asking  for access permission to allow the
processes mentioned above, please allow them, this should get your internet
working again.

10.. If this also does not work, restart your computer into
safe mode.

11.. Open My Computer and navigate to your Windows folder (by
default it is C:\Windows)

12.. Look for 'Internet Logs' and delete this folder

              13.. Reboot your computer normally.

14.. You will be prompted to configure all your firewall
settings again. Once you have done this, try accessing the internet again.

            -Will
