Our normal daily traffic is around 10TB per day, it'll be interesting to see
what gets transfered for this release. Anyway, enjoy; let me know how the
downloads work for you performance-wise.

re the Error Code = 11001 error code

Before people started hitting the download servers I was able to just click
on the product on the left column to get back to the download page, then try
again, after a few times it would work. Now that more people are coming in
it just will not work anymore. My guess is that we just need to be patient
and it will slow down a bit then we can download.

Me too.

It's a pity the Internet can't be fixed to degrade a bit more gracefully
under load... One might rather naively imagine that things like proprietary
download managers would be able to help with that.

First feedback:
excellent download rates even from here in Switzerland!
Just finished downloading VS2005 Professional CD1 + CD2

Great work, thanks!

I can't get to the downloads. Once I click the Subscriber Downloads link on
my management page, I go nowhere. The Microsoft logo just keeps waving and
the status bars stalls at about the midway point indefinitely. Evidently you
don't have a time out on the page. I'm now on my 3rd attempt (browser
session) and this one has sat like this for 7 minutes now. It doesn't load
the downloads page and it doesn't time out. So performance is negative 125
here. I'm running on cable broadband.

My download speed started at ~190KB/sec, got about 150mb down, now I am
getting 18-20KB/sec.

This may take a while :)

Try deleting your cookies - there's definitely some problem with cookie
handling on the new site - I've had spates of that sitting in a loop
behaviour too.

I have been able to exit this loop two times by closing *all* IE windows;
whithout deleting any cookie. However, I'm not blocked at the downloading
page with the now famous error code 11001.

I guessing that I'll have to wait until late into the night, at least,
before starting downloading something; if I'm lucky.

We've identified the source of this problem (it's a totally new one for us)
and are working it with maximum effort right now.

Still can't get passed the errors so far but they are working on it at least
according to Andy.
Wonder why some can connect and not others?

It has to do with how we're handling new session initiates, basically we had
a gigantic spike of download requests that are queuing and timing out.
We're fixing this now, and I'll have an update for a workaround very shortly
on a new thread.

I'm getting the best performance of downloading that I have ever had. Using
a 1.5Mbit link, I'm getting a constant 160KB/sec download. Usually, it's
all over the place.

Whatever you've done, don't touch it anymore!

Actually, we're going to multithread the client soon and you should be able
to add a zero to that number. Didn't want to threaten the VS launch,
however, so we pushed back the release.

A legit use for BitTorrent or Avalanche :-)

Good to hear!

Keep up the good work. I must say, purchasing an MSDN Subscription was one
of the best things I've done!

Strange. I kept getting the error when I was trying to download in IE.
So I tried it with Firefox. It worked the first time. I've allready had
Microsoft File Transfer Manager installed on the system, so FF just
opened the link in it and started to the download.

Best regards,
Tomaz
