Hi,

I saw that there as an Aug 12, 2008 update for MapPoint 2009. The info in
the MS Download Center pointed to a directly location that does not exist on
my XP machine. In addition, I get an error message when I try to update the
Construction info via the update feature. It keeps saying that the
information could not be downloaded.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I got this to work by changing a URL in the registry, but you'll want to remember to change it back.. :-)

More info here: http://www.mapforums.com/mappoint-2009-construction-data-update-8204.html

I think it is broken temporarily but they are working on getting it fixed, so If you don't mind to wait and try again in a month it
will probably be fixed I would guess.

I have now found this one which MapPoint Northern America 2009 attempts to
use but never actually gets an update:-

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Link...88&clcid=0x409

Do you please have any other ideas?

I'm experiencing the same thing, will MS be correcting the website anytime
soon? I'm holding up the deployment of this new version until we can verify
that the Construction Update works.
Thanks

Why not ask Microsoft?

Thanks Eric, this does work. However I think we are all looking for an
automated fix for this. I'll need to distribute MapPoint2009 to a large
number of users and asking each one to go into the registry to make this
change then setting it back is not an option. I'll keep checking the
original download site to see if they fix it.

You could distribute "reg" files to make it easier.. as part of
the install instructions they would click on the reg file at the end
to make the registry setting change - they would not have to
go into the registry editor...

Then when the MS link is fixed, send out a new reg file to return
the setting to the original one..
