Automatically mapping counties

I'm creating data sets using counties for one state.

Since there are similar county names in most states MapPoint 2009 wants me
to match every similar county - depending on the date it could be 450 matches
for one dataset. Obviously, just mapping one dataset could take at least an
hour. There has got to be someway of telling mappoint to only use Oregon
counties.

I tried creating a column in Excel that said "State" and populating it with
"Oregon" but that didn't work. There's got to be a way of instructing
MapPoint to only use counties from one designated state.
