I have used the import data wizard for a couple of years on Streets and
Trips. I upgraded to MapPoint a while back, but have not had the time to
learn about all the additional features that MP has over S&T.

What I would like to do is import data from my Excel spreadsheet and instead
of MP grouping all the data into one dataset, I am hoping it can create
separate datasets (with different pushpins) based on the data found in one
particular column of the record.

For instance, if I had a spreadsheet full of addresses, and then after the
address columns there was one more column for the saleperson assigned to
that address. Is there a way that MP could automatically create a different
dataset or pushpin based on that salesperson's name. So I would end up with
say 5 datasets, one for Bill, one for Dave, one for Sally, one for Betty,
and one for Sue?

Right now the only way I know how to do this is to cut each persons
addresses from the main Excel workbook and separate them out into different
workbooks (tabs). Then import them all separately into the map.

Hi,

This is easy to do with custom programming. I don't think it can be done
in the standalone executable (bug maybe others can confirm this as I'm
not 100% sure of this).
