I've been trying to figure out how to change the color of the section tabs with no success. Does anyone know how to do this?

Right- or ctrl-click the tab and choose a color from the Section Color
popup.

I'm looking for the same thing; in addition - how to delete extra tabs.

Ctrl-/right-click a tab, and you can change its colour as well as delete the
tab (and the page it is stuck to).

can you change the color of the tab in office 2004?

Don't think so--pretty sure a new feature in Word 2008.

No, it's a new feature introduced in Word 2008.

THANK YOU!!! Do you know how long it took me to find the answer to "how do I change the stupid tab colors?"

There should be an easier, more self explanatory way to do this.

thanks, again.

Where would you have expected the option to color a particular tab to have
been?

Thanks for helping us improve Mac Office.

Matt, in answer to your question regarding "Where would you have expected the option to color a specific tab to have been?", my answer is that I would expect to be on the formatting palette.

Thanks for your help!

Interesting. I wouldn't, because it's more like setting the background
than formatting the document, to me, and customize workspace is down on
the status bar.

Wild speculation--there's an issue, in that I think Office/MS really
aims for people with a "hey, what happens if I right-click?" mentality
to be rewarded with the right answer, and that mentality is not so
common on the Mac, maybe.

Why? That it is text formatting. Want to format the tab, right click on the
tab!
