unlinked section headers gone haywire
|
| |
I have Word:mac 2008, version 12.3.6. I am editing a document that was created in Word for Windows (version unknown, sent to me by a client, but obviously compatible--at least partially--with mine). The doc is 238 pages long and has multiple sections, and up to the 16th section, there was no problem with unlinking a section from the previous one so I could personalize each section header. However, in section 17, the little checkbox in my Toolbox indicates that it is already unlinked from the previous section, and yet I can't change the headers in this section without also affecting the previous section. In fact, I have now double-checked all sections, and every one is unlinked from the previous one. To top it off, I have apparently also created a section 18, which has the header I wanted for section 17, but I can't find the section break line that starts 18 (and yes, I have all non-printing characters revealed).... more »

OS X Tiger 10.4.11
Word 2004 v 11.5.5
Hi,
I've been struggling with this for years and this time I've got to get it right. I've combed through the instructions (again) including Bend Word To Your Will to no avail.
My manuscript has the title and my byline on the first page (not page 1.)— the title page—then an epigraph on the second page. I want these two pages devoid of headers and page numbers.... more »

Changing the width of the style drop-down menu in Word 2011
|
| |
I can't seem to find a way to do this. The way it works in previous Windows versions of Office is that you right click on the toolbar, select Customize, then you can click on a drop-down menu (i.e., font, style, size) which selects it and highlights with a thick black line around it, then you can drag the drop down from the right edge and make it wider.... more »

Spinning Balls - Word 2008
|
| |
Our office has come across an issue in the last few months that has us stymied. I'm hoping someone here may be able to offer assistance or direction. Sorry but the explanation is a bit lengthy...
Last summer, our office updated all of our machines to OS 10.7. We're running on iMacs that are about 4 years old now, and out of AppleCare. When we made the upgrades, there was a decision to not upgrade the version of Microsoft Office we were running (2008) since it would have meant an increase in the cost of the upgrades, and training time to get the staff up & running again. There was nothing we could find at the time that would indicate we'd have any issues sticking with Office 2008 in the new OS.... more »
