This had previously happened to me when I was running Panther; after I
queried on this board someone suggested that I use shift-option-
command-v to paste, and this solved the problem. A few weeks ago I
bought a new Mac Mini running Snow Leapard. Now the problem has
returned, and using shift-option-command-v does not solve it.
Word itself appears to be functioning fine. Everything displays and
prints properly, and when I turn on show formatting the return
(paragraph) marks are in the proper place, and in the proper number.
Any advice appreciated!
It's likely that Mail does not import all of Word's paragraph formatting
properties.
When I paste from Word into Mail, the paragraph spacing does not agree with
the paragraph spacing assigned in Word.
If you want to preserve the formatting, you will need to send as an
attachment in either Word or PDF.
Cheers

Here's my fix: Paste first into a text edit doc, then copy and paste again into Mail.
This seems to work. But we shouldn't have to do that!
Alternative fix: Replace the Mac with a new PC, and give up on the idea that Apple cares about anything else but making money.
