Spanning video over several slides

I want to be able to span a video clip over several slides. I was able
to do this with older versions of Powerpoint.
What I have done is insert the video
Set the start to automatic
go to the Toolbox and select the video animation
Go to the media options and set Stop Playing after 3 slides.
When I view the presentation, the movie starts, when I advance to the
next page the video is no longer playing. (Sometimes the sound
continues, sometimes not)
When I check the settings I see that my 3 slide setting is set back to
1.
Any thought as to why tis is happening?? Any solutions??
