Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Excel 2008 does not retain numbers entered from auxiliary USB numeric keypads used with my Macbook Pro using the Snow Leopard OS. The cell recognizes a number when a key is tapped but does not retain the number when the key is released. If the number is pressed down long enough to begin repeating (ex. 2222), the repeating number is retained. The numeric keypads work properly in Numbers '09 and in Excel on Windows XP laptops.

Have you checked the mfr's site to see if there is a driver or firmware
update for the keypad? Confirm that Office is fully updated as well.

FWIW, Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have had no problem with the cheap
GE Keypad I've been using since the early Leopard days.

I got the cheap Micro Innovation numeric keypad to work in Excel by turning the NumLock off. Doesn't make sense, but it works.
The Kensington keypad never worked properly in Excel, even with the NumLock off. I could key numbers into the text box at the top of the worksheet, but not in the cells. Both key pads worked properly in MS Word and Powerpoint for Mac.

I did have the latest Office for Mac updates installed. I did not check the keypad mfr's sites for drivers or solutions yet. The problem was repeatable at the Apple store on an iMac desktop, so it is not limited to my Macbook.

Thanks!
