The recent file I've been working on is now coming up on every quit and
relaunch of excel. Thanks

Have a look if you accindenty put into excel startup folder:
Application>Ms office>startup>excel

Another place where to look is system pref>accounts>login items
But files here will open on startup of your Mac

No not in there, problem went away with reboot, but has resurfaced today

I'm unable to repro this issue and would like your assistance.

Can you tell me what you've done prior to this issue resurfacing? Did you
open and close the file after reboot, or were you working with a different
file? Is there any more info you can share to help us identify the issue you
are seeing?
