File size changes

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

When I save a jpg or gif file in Fireworks or Photoshop, the file size increases when I attach it to my email message. Why?

The encoding process will do this. It is normal. Compress the file if
you are concerned about size.

Since JPGs and GIFs are already compressed, additional compression won't
make much difference.
