I have never heard of this problem before. If you look in
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data
where " ~ " is your home folder, you will see an "Entourage Temp"
folder. Quit Entourage first and delete this folder. It should be
recreated the next time Entourage needs it.
Launch Entourage and test. Do you still receive the error message?

Attachments are stored in the Temp folder. It sounds like the file link is
broken. It's possible you accidentally deleted the folder. Look in the
trash.
Ensure that the "Entourage Temp Folder" is located in the following path:
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Temp Folder
Note: I'm not seeing this folder for Entourage 2008, but do see it for
Entourage 2004.

Are you using an English version of Office or are you using a different
language? If you're translating the error message then we're losing
something in the translation. "An alias that leads to a map" doesn't
make any sense.
I suspect permissions may be incorrectly set on your Microsoft User Data
folder. Quit all Office applications and try the following:
1. Open the Terminal application found in /Applications/Utilities.
2. Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal:
chown -R username ~/Documents/Microsoft\ User\ Data
3. Replace "username" with your Mac OS X account name (the short name).
4. Hit the return key to run the command.
5. Launch Entourage and see if the problem still exists.
Hope this helps!
