I have recently installed Apple Safari 3 Beta web browser, and ever
since, whenever I close a Messenger conversation window, Messenger for
Mac crashes.

I have heard that Safari 3 Beta has messed some things around - is
there a workaround? Is Microsoft going to release an update?

Thanks!

Tyler

It unfortunately is a known issue...

That's it, really, at least for the time being. I'm afraid we need to be
patient until this problem is fixed; until then, there is nothing that can
be done, short of reverting to Safari 2.

...and I know two ways to fix this.
One way is downgrading safari to it's previous version (2.x).
Other way is to start using another MSN client for mac os x.

Hopefully all problems (such as word Pi

will be fixed in the future releases.

How can you downgrade Safari to version 2.x? I found no information on
the Apple website.

You should find an uninstaller in the Safari 3 dmg.

I wouldn't the new releases of Safari beta to fix an MSN crash. The
crash is occuring because the new Safari uses a newer version of
Webkit, which is obviously causing issues for MSN. It's upto the MSN
guys to fix things.

Not necessarily. Safari 3.0 is a beta. I would not expect Microsoft to
be developing any fixes against a beta but rather develop against a
final source code that is not only supported by Apple but also stable
and unchanging. Part of running a beta means that things will probably
break. If end users don't like the consequences then they should revert
back to the supported software until Safari 3.0 is ready.

As of 3.0.3 Safari BETA is still causing crashes to Messenger for Mac.
This will probably not get fixed until the source code is final which
is not going to happen until Lepord is released from everything I have
been reading. So downgrade back to 2.x, use Audium (or equivelant), or
switch to iChat which can do video. Up to you. :-)

Just wanted to let you guys know, the update for messenger, 6.0.3,
seems to have fixed it for me. I'm running a Mac Book Pro 15" if it
turns out to be an intel only fix. You have to go to the microsoft
messenger for mac page to get the update but i don't think i have to
explain any more to you, y'all seem pretty adept with computers.
