Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

how do i delete accounts from the start up list. I see two accounts and I want to delete one of them but it keeps showing up even if I go to preferences and change the account name.

Entries in the Most Recently Used username list are stored in the Messenger
preferences file, which is located in /Users/<Your
User>/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Messenger.plist. The Most
Recently Used list for Windows Live (Personal) service is in entries
MSNSignInMRU01-05, and the list for Coporate service is in entries
SIPSignINnMRU01-05. You can delete the contents of each entry easily using
a program like Property List Editor. Otherwise, you can open the file using
a text editor and clear the data between the opening and closing <string>
tags under the appropriate key as mentioned above. Be sure Messenger is
closed when you attempt this! Or, you can delete the file, but then you
might lose some preferences (but not saved conversations, contact list,
etc.)

I think there should be an easier way to clear the list. If you agree, send
the feature request to Microsoft. In Messenger, go to Help > Send Feedback.
Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product Feedback:

In Messenger 7 you can actually delete your accounts from the preferences
and UI in the UI. To do this Launch Messenger. Choose "Sign in with a
different account . . ." and choose the "Clear Account History . . .". This
has to be done for the personal and corporate services separately.

Please note that this will clear all of the accounts for a particular
service.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Hi Mickey Stevens and all Professional,

So do you know where is the exact location of the "saved conversations directory/folder/file" in? Because I want to more the default msn history location to another harddisk, thanks.

Hi Lee,

the conversations are stored inside the Microsoft User Data folder, which is
inside your personal Documents folder. Inside the MUD folder, you should
find two folders, Microsoft Messenger Data and Microsoft Messenger History.
The Data folder contains a number of caches, the History folder all your
conversations in HTML format (which you can also view in a regular browser).

Ok, well i don't know how it works, but the corporate contacts list kept
coming up ,every time y started MSN messenger. Finally i started to play with
the plists, and by erasing the messenger plist. Go to
User>/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Messenger.plist and erase
this file. After that, empty your trash and then open msn messenger. This
will start a new setup of msn messenger. Then in one of the options you can
choose which list you want to set up. Hopefully this info helps.
