Problematic Display Name and Personal Message (Really Urgent)

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
I have been using a display name with a ~ symbol for years.
But ever since I switched my name in Window Live ID on the day before yesterday and used eBuddy yesterday, my display name has been synchronized to the one of Window Live ID and my personal message cannot be stored whenever quitting Messenger.
Now I cannot use the display name with a ~ symbol and my personal message is deleted upon Messenger usage. I have to change them every time I log in, which brings me a lot of troubles. Could anyone help me with this?

This has been reported SEVERAL times before on this forum. Please read before posting!
Since Microsoft has moved to the new MSNP18 protocol for Live Messenger (which Messenger:Mac doesn't support) the problem with the display name will remain until the next release of Messenger:Mac
