Can't access some e-mails

Just recently some of my e-mails are no longer
accessable, with a messagein the preview window
that "message hasnot been downloaded," and when I attempt
to open the e-mail that "message cannot be displaye."
This is also true for e-mails which I have previously
read. The headers on these messages do display
correctly. Maybe 5-10% of my e-mails are affected. I'm
running Windows xp with OE 6 and have plenty of memory
and disk space. Even a system restore to a time before
the problem was noticed did not fix this.
