We have developed a VB DLL that we have loaded into COM and our website uses
this object very extensively.

Under low usage (1-2 concurrent users) no problems occur, as soon as we test
is using the MS Stress Test Tool simulating 100 users, the following error
appears in the event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: COM+
Event Category: SVC
Event ID: 4194
Date: 30/07/2002
Time: 16:36:22
User: N/A
Computer: WEBTEST
Description:
The system has called a custom component and that component has failed and
generated an exception. This indicates a problem with the custom component.
Notify the developer of this component that a failure has occurred and
provide them with the information below.
Component Prog ID:
Server Application ID: {3A348B5B-A76C-4DF7-884F-F576D90869F1}
Server Application Name: web3ex_v2_15
The serious nature of this error has caused the process to terminate.
Exception: C0000005
Address: 0x1F45E8DA
Call Stack:
msado15!DllGetClassObject + 0x1517C
msado15 + 0x16F9

Does anyone have any idea what this error means? and how to fix?

Thanks

This is actually a failure in MDAC, not your component. Upgrade to the
latest MDAC (www.microsoft.com/data) and see if the issue goes away.

What does the application do? Is there away to remove the application and
see if the errors go away ?

That is still a failure in MDAC. I think that you should open a case w/MS
and see if there is a fix.

I am not so sure I agree with you we it may be how the custom application
is calling the msado15... I would definitley like to know the versions adn
time stamp of the MSADO15.. That would be very helpful...

I seem to have resolved my problem!

My dll was making multiple calls to App.Major and App.Minor, I removed these
and the site now runs perfectly, no errors occur and the speed of the site
has been greatly improved.

I don't understand why this has made a difference, but I won't be using the
App object again.
