Not all IP addresses listed for SMTP server
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server with SMTP. The server has 4 network cards, and three of these are Internet facing, and one is on the DMZ. We are transitioning from a Windows 2003 SMTP server to Windows Server 2008 R2. On the Windows 2003 machine, I was able to pick the two IP addresses (one external, one internal) for SMTP traffic, and obviously our firewall was... more »

What seems to be happening is the spammer sends mail from <spam- recipient> to bad-address@mydomain and then the bounced reply goes to the poor old spam-recipient with an advert for watches or vi agra.... more »

IIS7 SMTP
Hi I'm running IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 I'm wondering if the SMTP service is suitable for sending a very large number of emails - more than 100,000 at a time? Does anyone have experience of using the SMTP service to do this? Thanks Phil

Newbie question on sending mail via telnet
Hi I have a query that I am trying to figure out that I hoped someone on this forum maybe able to help me with. Sometimes, if we can't send email to a certain domain, we'll try sending a message via telnet to see what response we get back. So, let's say the remote domain is Domain.com, and their MX record is:... more »

Backup by smtp-service
Hello! I'm short before a mental crash. Try to get solution for backing up a directory for hours now. My idea was, to backup the content of a directory one time a day (possibly incremental (and perhaps also packed)) and send it to an e-mail-address. I use Windows XP Proffesionell and have installed the "smtp-service".... more »
