I have some problems by virtual directory with network shares.
Situation1:
We have on Server1 ftp installed. Server1 is a Windows Server 2000 SP4.
On ftp Server 1 I created a new virtual directory with the name PRODUCT.
The virtual directory (PRODUCT) is a network share on Server2
\\server2\ftpfolder.
When i start now on a Client1 a ftp transfer from ftp://server1/product than
is the traffic by 35KB/s average.
Sitation2:
When I install a FTP on Server2 and create a virtual directory name is also
PRODUCT on the same folder C:\ftpfolder (not on a network share) than is the
traffic nerly 10 times faster by 330KB/s average.
I connect with ftp://server2/Product
I used a tool to show the network connections
Situation1:
I saw that the connection between Client1 -> Server1 is a ftp connection
Server1 -> Server2 its a netbios-ssn session.
The client1 connect not direct to Server2.
Does it possible that this way of communication on a WAN connection 10 times
slower is?
Thanks for help
babagallo
if you use windows explore to copy big files from server2 to server1. how
long? what if you have direct ftp or web on the server2, how fast server1
can retrieve or download those files?
