Are you able to do a group by in Smartlist? We have a customer who wants to
know what their top 50 purchases are in terms of dollars. This customer
purchased well over 35000 line items from us. I can run a sales detail
smartlist and it will show every line item but it will not group like items
together.

Any suggestions on how to do this in smartlist? Or would I need to write a
sql query?

Thanks,

Craig, you can't group in SmartList. You could do it in SmartList
Builder but it would be quicker to do a SQL query.

Good luck,

You might also want to check on the Smartlist "Export Solutions" where you
can export your Smartlist Data right into an excel "template." That Template
can be a pivot table or can use the Subtotals part of Excel. Knowing a
little excel VBA can make this much more effective. When you have a
smartlist selected, click on the menu "Samrtlist" then go to "Export
Solutions." I don't know if you need to have Smartlist builder to use this.
It might be standard functionality

I just got an email from Encore Business Solutions. They're offering
a Summer special - Advanced SmartList for $1,000. This tool provides
grouping capabilties to SmartList, as well as other features.
