Editing Checking layout

Hi,

New to dynamics. Wanting to know if how to edit check layout or if it is
possible to do? We recently changed check format. Now using blank 3 part
instead of a pre-printed one, ie. account number, company name etc.

wondering how to add these fields on check layout so it would print.

You're saying you want to print on completely blank check stock? Without
anything printed on it when you buy it? For that you need to buy an add-on
software package like MICR check printing from Mekorma:

and you need to purchase MICR toner for your printer.

Thanks for the reply, so you are saying I can't edit the check layout in
dynamics to include company name, account number etc without an additional
software?

Could I try to edit the check template or is that not suggested!

You can edit the check layout without additional software...so if you want
to move things around, add a few fields (there are some limitations), etc. -
you can do that with Great Plains Report Writer.

However, if you are talking about buying completely blank check stock
(nothing preprinted on it) and then adding your bank routing info and
account number at the bottom of the check, as well as all of the other
information that is normally on a check, then you would need additional
software and special toner.

FYI - We use Mekorma to print checks on blank check stock - but we use
regular toner - no complaints (yet) from the bank!

The 2 places I would look are:

1. Report Writer Manual - if you don't have the manuals accessible from your
GP install, they are on disk 1 of the GP installation CDs.
2. KnowledgeBase on CustomerSource - if you choose GP for Product, Payables
Management for the Module/Topic and search for "check layout", you will get
back several pages of available KB articles - hopefully there are some that
address what you're looking to do.

If there is a specific question that you have or are not finding these
sources, please post back.
