My client used to be able to type in the first few numbers of a gl account
number in payables transaction distribution then click the lookup button and
the list would start at that point. Now it starts at the beginning. How can
we get it back to being able to tell it where in the list to start? On my
system it goes back to the beginning too.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you are referring to v10, the lookup behavior has changed a bit. Type in
the few first digits of the account number, then hit CTRL+L or press the
lookup. Now select by type "Posting" and the scrolling window will fill
accordingly.

Best regards,

This still brings me to the beginning of the list. Perhaps we lost that
functionality in version 10?

Thanks for your help.

Version 10 SP 3 (I think). She said that she used to be able to do it and it
just quit working-she wonders if she did something. I goes to the correct
spot in the list for another user at the same site.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, although I always mark the
"notify me of replies" it doesn't anymore.

Tracey,

I am testing this in GP 10 SP 4 and it is working correctly, however, the
first time, to set the lookup screen to behave correctly for each
user/computer, here is what you need to do:

- Click on the account number lookup
- On the Accounts window click on the Account Number column heading to sort
by Account Number (this should change the line at the top to say 'Find by
Account Number')
- Select an account

The next time you need to use the lookup, it should work as you are
expecting. I am fairly certain that this did not change between SP 3 and SP
4, but I do not have a handy SP 3 install to test with right now. Please
post back if it is still not working as expected.

To add to Victoria's excllent input, going through this process in any
account lookup, regardless of the series you are in, affects account
lookup in all series. No need to do it in PM, RM, GL, SOP, POP, etc.

Also, I tested this on a GP10 SP2 system and the behavior was the same
that you're experiencing Tracey so it's definitely not an SP3 to SP4
issue.
