Subject: frontpage v.3.0 at boot-up

When booting into windows 2000 the boot process gets me into a Microsoft window with one folder called Microsoft FrontPage. When I click on it I get a subfolder called version 3.0. This is a brand new installation of windows 2000 and the only program installed is Microsoft Office 97. I don't know where MS FrontPage came from and I like to delete this folder but all I get is: cannot delete because of sharing violation. If I click on the x in the right hand upper corner the window disappears and I am back at my desktop. Any ideas anybody? Horst

Can you describe what you mean by this?

Windows 2k come with FP for you to do web authoring since IIS is
installed...

I seem to remember this same topic here months ago but the general consensus
was it could not be removed since it is a default service attached to some
other process...

Hey kick me if and wrong ... this is not the gospel

You should know better than to try to delete a Windows program
by just deleting it's folders!!!

Try removing it using Control Panel | Add-Remove Programs.

Chances are that you screwed up the "Uninstall Routine" by deleting
files in the FrontPage folder. If that's the case, I would do a reinstall,
then
delete the program the proper way.

Windows 2000, XP both create a Microsoft FrontPage 98 folder, why I don't know, and it doesn't work, so just disregard as you can't delete it either.
