Hi

How do you get your site to come up in the top hits of a search engine. Ive
submitted my URL to a number of search engines but cannot get my site in the
top search results. (Im not looking past the first few pages, it could be
there somewhere but who looks past the first couple of pages anyway?).

In Alta Vista I do get a sort of hit. I type in mailspeed marine (my company
name) and get two hits for both our shops. But this is a listing under
newgaurd coatings as we are on there stockists list.

If they can get us in the top 5, why cant I?

Got to be the best!!!!!

I've spent more than 300 hours figuring this out through good old trial and
error. There are several good Web sites http://www.searchenginewatch.com
that will help you in your quest for knowledge. I'm not willing to give away
this knowledge for free, however. Sorry.

Hi,

You can add META tags to your pages, which the search engine web spiders
find and add to their lists. A META tag's construct is: <META
NAME="description" VALUE="approx. 30 words about page"> and <META
NAME="keywords" VALUE=comma-separated keywords">. Search around for META
tags and you'll more info.

Hope that helps,
