I am doing this site for my boss... I want to make a
picture have the same effect as the bg picture on this
site: http://www.awcwire.com/home.html. Is that just
donr in Photoshop with a filter of some kind? Thanks for
the help in advance!!

It is done with JavaScript... view the source code to see the JavaScript on
that page. There are lots of web sites on line that offer free JavaScript
code that you can customize with your own images - as well as online
tutorials that might help you learn how. You could do a search on google.com
for JavaScript onMouseover scripts or tutorials...

Alternatively - j-bots has a lot of neat FrontPage Addins that may do what
you are looking for - not sure if they have one that does exactly what you
are looking for, but you can check their site http://www.websunlimited.com

Looks like they took the picture, polarized it, then blurred, then smeared a
little.

Nice site. I like what they did with their menu and the photos that change.

I know I like it too. Forgive me for asking this... I
looked in Photoshop for polarize (I have 7.0) and I cant
find it. I even looked in that huge owners manual.
Nothin. Would they call it something else?? Thank you
once again!

Photoshop doesn't have a polarize filter. Creating one would be nearly
impossible. The image would have to be polarized when shot.

Hi Josh,
Do you mean the wire end? Nothing special.
Looks to me they used little or no depth of field, causing some of the wire
ends to be out of focus.
The blur effect is the reflection of the cable on perhaps a glass plate.

That posterize effect is pretty cool.... No as for the
color the blue. Did they add some sort of glow to it or
something??

Thanks again

Thanks!

You could Tint or Colorize. They may have used a blue filter on the camera
when the photo was taken.

Now that's guessing. The wire end is obviously a gray scale image.
They probably made some of the gray transparent (mask) and placed it over
the blue back ground matching the webpage background.
The image on the page is a .jpg so it was edited and saved as a .jpg.
