Having used FronPage 2003 for many years, I set the 'connection' to use
FrontPage Server extensions.

1. When I publish the site, using the blue -> arrow with no files selected,
it uploads all files in the site. I can't find an option to publish only
the files which have changed (as used to exist in FrontPage). Is there
one?

2. In some circumstances (and I'm trying to work out which) the published
file appears with today's date, even when the one on my local machine is
older. And then it gets marked as being newer on the site than it is on my
local machine. Is this normal?

3. I am trying to get to a situation where none of the files in my
publishing page are marked with a blue arrow going either way or a blue
question mark. Is this possible?

Can I do anything about all this? It all seems a rather untidy business
compared with FrontPage.

[I have reinitialised the front page settings on the site a couple of
times - assuming my ISP's control panel is working - and then uploaded the
whole site each time.]

1) Change the View dropdown to Changed Files (the default is Folders).
2) No - it is not normal. It is an indication that the meta data on the
server is not being updated correctly.
3) If the extensions on the server are working correctly, it should be
possible.

Are you using any components that require the extensions? If not, then a
switch to FTP might be the answer, but wait for the release of SP1 for EW3
before changing. SP1 fixes a few bugs in FTP publishing - mostly dealing
with files in conflict.
