This is the funniest software I've ever seen..kudos to your sence of humor
Microsoft. I thought "Picture it " was a good goof, but this is the best..you
"Punked" me you silly people.
(Pssss...Adobe, this is no competition, it's a joke!)

Good luck and I'm looking forward to another laugh soon..LOL

Mike,

Please take a look at the sample files that shipped with Acrylic. C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Code Named Acrylic. I think they might cause you to take
another look at the program. If not, I would be interested to hear what it
is you don't like about the program.

Mike JPV,
I am sorry that you are not able to understand this great piece of
software. It takes some to learn but it's not THAT hard. This is my
second image created with Acrylics. It shows it's possibility since this
was created with vectors alone. I could not do that with good old
Illustrator (sorry Adobe!) with the same natural look and feeling.

I think Adobe and Corel has to be aware of some competition in the near
future.

Oops. That should have been C:\Program Files\Microsoft Code Named

Sorry

You really are cheating yourself if you don't take some time to see what
this software is capable of. There have been a lot of sarcastic assessments
of Acrylic by people who clearly have no idea what it is that is unique about
Acrylic. Microsoft had really better make it clear what this program's
strengths are or this type of smartass, uninformed opinion will begin to hold
sway...
And MikeJPV and deebs, for your info, I have been using Illustrator for
years, painting and drawing for a lifetime, and trust me, Illy has long way
to go and a lot of catch-up to make its freehand drawing/painting and
natural media tools anywhere near as good as Acrylic/Expression. That is what
this program is really good at...

Wow! That's impressive. I'd like to see the other two drawings you've done
in Acrylic.

It's nice to see that there are people, other than Annie, who think that this
"software" has great use. Flowers, there you go...
well look here here...

I didn't see anyof them...

I agree... but that would show integrity, and know one has ever said
Microsoft had intergity, no one. Anyway, here's the best...

>> or this type of smartass, uninformed opinion will begin to hold

I attacked no one, I put no one down and Annie you allowed it to snowball
into an assinine free for all... professional? no not with a spokes persom
like Annie handleing the responces...I said it before I'll say it again, this
stuff is silly just like the software
Mike JPV
PS I won't be back, so enjoy yourselves, your flowers but just stop, even
though it's all you know, touching yourselves...keep that private...LOL

Okay, for some reason, that reply of mine seems to be blank again. Weird.

Anyway, I was trying to say that Henry's hedgehog is my favorite thing
he's done in Acrylic so far. Really nice!

(Here's hoping this post works.)

Thank you Mike for your frank and interesting answer,
and thanks for that on my flower, the poppie that grows right outside my
window. But I think your dizzing of my motif is a little hasty because
drawing an organic looking picture using vectors is very hard. That's why I
tried to use Acrylic the way I did: painting a face with an oilpainted
feeling, making a botanical illustration like a close watercolor study and a
hedgehog made lik an inkwashed pendrawing. Thats not what u usually use
vector softwares for.

Vectors are best for technical things like cars, cellphones, houses, pliers,
clocks... When it comes to human beeings, animals or plants u usually use
bitmap oriented packages. Like Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop. But there
are some mixed vector/bitmap packages that uses both techs. Like RealDraw,
CanvasX and now Acrylic. I tried CanvasX but it put me off at once, it was
to high-tech for me! RealDraw I think is OK.

The first time I used Acrylic I was hooked. I think it is very promising.

I think wen one should try something new one needs an open mind to give that
new a chance. I remember first time I sat down trying to understand
Macromedia Flash. Until then I had only used Illustrator. Gosh! I never
thought I would understand Flash. But my multimedia company had given me a
week or two to come to grips with it. I had no choise. I had to like it if
I wanted that job. After some days and nights and reading the Flash Bible I
could not do without it. Now I rather use Flash and almost never
Illustrator!

May the sun always shine upon you Mike! And it's a promise: I never give up
on my flowers in my garden, I love them all!

Hi James! Glad you made it.

Fortunately, most of the people here tell us what they like and don't like
about the program. It's only on a rare occasion that people say they don't
like it but don't say why. I'm just happy with all the constructive feedback
we're getting.

Thanks for posting!

Matt,

Your emails are not coming up blank for me. Are you reading this newsgroup
from the web or Outlook Express? And I agree, the hedgehog is my favorite so
far too.

Henry,

The picture in your acrylics1.htm isn't showing up for me. Does it display
for anyone else?

Annie,

Its seems to me that the thing that is a shame about this conversation was
not the comments that started or ended it but more that the person who did
start it did not seem willing to actually provide any information as to what
they didn't like about the software. Everyone is able to have their own
opinion and the nature of the Internet is they can spread that opinion
quickly. I wish that when people did provide their opinion they would
provide some degree of qualification as to why they think / feel that way.

Personally I like Acrylic, if anyone has read any of my other posts on the
Acrylic newsgroups you would already know that. The reasons I like it are
because of the functionality like warp group, perspective transform and
custom strokes.
