Hello,
I'm upgrading E2K7 RTM to SP1 in my LAB and I ran into a problem upgrading
second node of the cluster. I have upgraded my other server (HT,CA) with no
problem.
I followed MS instructions for cluster with CCR upgrade and passive node was
upgraded without a problem. After I moved cluster resources to that node and
tried to upgrade second node, I'm getting following error:
Mailbox Server Role ......................... FAILED
An error occurred. error code was 3221684229 message was Access is denied..

Looking at the ExchangeSetup.log I also found this information:

I searched the Internet and saw some posts with the same erorr number that
is related to registry permissions, but not for ScFindFileInDirTree error.

Did any one else ran into this exact problem?
Thank you.

Hi everyone

I have the exact problem!

Our environment is AD2003 Native, E2003 native, E2007 CAS installed a few
weeks ago, Hub installed today. All roles on different hardware.

No problems with CAS or Hub install.

Mailbox role... big problems..... today is the first time I've attempted to
install the Mailbox role. The OS is Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bit, installed on
new HW and disks formatted prior to OS installation.

Yuriy - did you find a solution to your problem?

Cheers, Scott

I had the same error.
I had in Exchange folder some nonstandard folders (some hidden hardlinks to
other partitions with restricted access rights). After I moved these folders
to another place and gave (temporarily) Full permissions on Exchange folders
to Everyone - the upgrade completed succesfully. Not sure which one worked,
but it looks like some problem with permissions on files or folders.
