I was told that this is supported with the Outlook 98 client. I just
installed it and still don't see
where you can setup outlook to search a directory service. This works in
Outlook Express.
I went to Tools/Accounts/Directory Services and added the external LDAP
server I wanted.
But, I still don't see a way to send that person an email. Looks like you
have to add the entry to your address book.
Am I missing something? It is not realistic for us to import a .csv file
every night. We need real-time
access to this directory.
Any idea?
Thanks
Andrea,
I have hit exactly the same problem, Exchange Server 5.5 should act as
an LDAP
client to whatever LDAP server the company is using and present the
search
results to whatever Exchange client (e.g. Outlook 98) as Foreign address
book
entries. Unfortunately this has clearly escaped Microsoft, who
obviously
assume that everyone can use Exchange / NT5 Active Directory as their
LDAP
server. I have already moaned at MS about this, but have as yet no
response.
Like yourselves, it is completely impractical to import or export a .CSV
file
on a periodic basis, hopefully someone from MS is watching this group,
who
knows we may even get a reply ?
