Exchange 2007 IMAP problem

I am running Exchange 2007 in a forest with a forest level trust to another
forest.
I setup a "linked mailbox" for a user in the other forest.
The user in the other forest wants to use IMAP4 to connect to the mailbox,
but connection fails.
When I set permissions for a user in the same forest, I can connect using
IMAP.
The problem seems related to access for the other forest.
What should I be looking at for this problem?
(BTW, I have another pair of forests with the same setup and that pair works
fine)
I have checked DNS and AD trusts and they seem OK
