We are having a power outage this weekend, I need to shutdown the entire
cluster.

We have an Active/active/passive Windows 2003 SP2 / Exchange 2007 cluster.

Do I do the following:
1st shutdown passive node

2nd - shutdown active node - At this point will the resources fail? Do I
need to do both active nodes at the same time?

With our Active/active cluster, we always transferred all resource to one
node and then shutdown that node. Can you do that with an A/A/P cluster or
will Exchange 2007 not allow two resources on one node?

If you need to shut down the entire cluster, you:

1. Stop the clustered mailbox servers on both active nodes.
2. Shut down the passive node.
3. Shut down one of the active nodes.
4. Shut down the other active node.

To start up the entire cluster, you:

1. Boot up the node you shut down in step 4 above.
2. Boot up the node you shut down in step 3 above.
3. If necessary, move one of the clustered mailbox servers from the node you
shut down in step 4 above to the node you shut down in step 3 above.
4. Boot up the passive node.
5. Start the clustered mailbox servers.

Hope this helps.

Scott,

Thanks.

Step #1 - I am assuming you mean go into cluster admin and take the cluster
resources offline.

Which is a better method or it does not matter?

I will probably use the script to do this, how can I tell if the script
worked?

You will see the cluster is offline in Cluster Administrator
