Remove Last Active Node from Ex2003 Clust - II

Finally remvoing the last node form Ex2003 Cluster ..

So ..

- remove EVS from Clust Admin Console
- Uninstall Exchange 2003
- Then evict from Clust Admin Console.

Thats all??????

Hey dude,

After you've removed the EVS which from the previous post I believe you said
you had, you can uninstall Exchange once you've evicted the node yes -
however I thought you were flattening the server?

You don't need to uninstall Exchange from the cluster node as it isn't like
a standalone server - you've already removed the Exchange Server (the EVS
that sits on the cluster nodes).

No ... have not done anything yet with this last node...just preparing myself

I shut this down yesterday just to make sure all is ok and I have not heard
of any issues.

Today will start working on it.....

so will remove the EVS first...
Evist the Node
Uninstall Exchange
disjoin the domain ...

then have to wipe it off and install Ex2007 as a passive node...

I remember now, you're rebuilding for a staggered 2003 to 2007 Cluster. :-)

ok .. removed the node no issues .. thanks for your guidance.

we have one last 2003 in a remote location.

SO from that server now when I open the ESM ..I see 3 admin groups.

frist one is where this last ex2003 is
second is where the node was which just removed
and third is ex2007 where the active node is install and will soon add the
second passive node.

the second admin group shows the following:

system policies - nothing in there
routing groups - noting there much either
Folders - which has Public Folders and all subfolders in there ...

I guess this will go away when I remove the last ex2003 server from the
org?????

few users reporting this error ..in OL2002

Unable to update public free/busy data. The contents of this public
folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Exchange Server
computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has
not been replicated to this site. ......

Was this the First Exchange 2003 Server? Did you replicate your Public
Folder system folders?

I did follow the article you suggested before removing the node. followed
the KB waited for 2 weeks.

As I stated before that the admin group still exists for the exch I removed
... and witihin there the PF/System folders still exist ...so what I did is
... I went in there ... and in the properties of ex:/o=domain/ou=site-name
properties -> replication tab I added the 2007 server and the issue is
resolved.

But not sure why I am getting it ....

on my HTS Que I see messages trying to go to the exch2003 server which I
removed ...and messages are from publicfold...@domain.com to the
server I removed.

I had it down for almost 3 days and non of this issue occur.

Under Public Folder Container we have about 10 folders or I should say PFs.

I never replicated those because we dont use PFs and we don't need those may
be those are they ones causing glitch????

I did replicate OAB, and Free+Busy etc.
