Help please - Entourage problem

I use Entourage 2008 to connect to an Exchange 2003 server and am running OSX 10.6.2
Our server has calendars set up in public folders to allow users to reserve conference rooms.
I sent a request from Entourage to one of these calendars. It was confirmed. Unfortunately, ever since, either Entourage or the server continues to resend the request – sometimes hundreds of times per day. I need to find out how to stop the request from being generated.
Can someone please help?
