Windows XP & Excel 2003

When I start-up my machine, Windows Messenger comes in and asks questions
about signing-in, etc. How can I disable this program - please?

Not an Excel issue.

On Desktop right-click on My Computer and "Manage"

Select "Services and Applications" and expand it.

Select "Services" then scroll down to "Messenger" and disable it.

Thanks Gord. When I followed your directions it says Messenger is already
disabled. Also there is a note which says "Messenger" has nothing to do with
Windows Messenger. I still have the problem.

Also to Kassie, I have forgotten how to reach the Startup Directory.

Sorry about posting on the wrong board.

How about Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Set Program Access and
Defaults>Microsoft Windows>Custom.

Select "Use my current messaging service"
