The file you're copying _from_, is it a .xls? .xlsx? .xlsm? .csv?
Is it protected in any way?

Sometimes this makes a difference.

Somehow I changed the default configuration of Excel...? On any cell
with a formula, I hit Cntrl+C. The cell does NOT get highlighted with
the dashed-line box around it.

If I hit Cntrl-V in a blank cell, I get the value, but not the formula.
Paste-Special is no better.

Any hints? Thanks!

NEW UPDATE !!!! After manually turning off different programs I found
the problem is Internet Explorer ! If I turn it off, excel recovers all
its paste features !!!!

So, next question is what to do with IE settings !

That was my problem as well. Skype updated recently... when I
uninstalled Skype Click to Call, copy/paste worked normally again.
