Search Feature in a linked spreadsheet

I have a masted workbook and a secondary workbook which is linked. the
secondary workbook must be 'updated' when opened. i've found that i cannot
search (CTL F) the secondary to find the data i'm looking for?
is this due to the formulas in the secondary sheet and not real data?

What happens when you try ctrl-f (or edit|find)?
On the edit|find dialog, you can click on the Options button and look in
formulas or values or comments (along with a few other choices).
Are you sure that they're set the way you want?
