Question on Excel2001 buttons

I have a file created under Excel 98 (actually it was started under
Visicalc, but no matter) which now has a large number of buttons
attached to assorted and sundry macros. When I open this file in Excel
2000, the buttons are displayed sans their formatting. If I examine the
button formatting with the editor for same, the correct colours and
fonts are shown/listed, but as soon as I deselect the button and go out
of editing mode, all I get is large black ugly lettering, no colours,
and no proper fonts or posiotioning on the button. Is there a
preference called "Actually show the cotton picking formats on the
buttons" or some such thing?

I'd appreciate it if replies were copied to my email.

BTW, the reason I switched (well, started to) is that the entire help
system of Excel 98 (and the others?--I never use W*rd) crashes under
MacOS 9.1. Such is progress.

Hi,

Since you can't rebuild the desktop file cause there isn't one on Windows,
all I can suggest is that you go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and
make sure you have installed all the updates to your operating system.

I tend to think your question would get better answers if you posted it to
newsgroups relating to Windows versions of Excel since your workbook
functions just fine on the Macintosh.

As for Word and 9.1 - it runs just fine.

Rendering of button faces in the proper font and color is a bug in Excel
2001. I hope this will be fixed in the March release.
