stop Excel from copying cell shading on insert?

This is for Excel 2008 for Mac 12.2.6 (100708).
When I have some cells shaded in one row and then
right-click the header column in that line, and
'insert', Excel gives me an empty line, but it
copies the cell shading from the line I was on when
inserting. The cell contents are not copied, so that
I end up with empty shaded cells and have to manually
unshade them.
How can I turn off this behaviour? I want white (No shading)
in the newly inserted cells.
