Strange behavior

I tried for two weeks, using suggestions from several of the

Win counterpart forums for macros using "XLUP". All failed to operate.

I was writing them into the personal macro workbook.

I had a demo of a very similar macro that was resident in its own workbook.
I copied it and pasted it into the personal macro workbook. It failed as
mine had failed. However, when run from the workbook in which it resided, it
worked fine.

I created a template with that macro pasted it in a new module of the new
workbook. I then did a SAVE AS with type TEMPLATE, removed the .tpt
extension, changed the default save location from My Templates folder to
OFFICE: STARTUP: EXCEL as Workbook with no extension. I quit Excel,
reopened. The template opened as Workbook1 and the macro works.

It is identical to what I tried in the Personal Macro Notebook. Go figure.
