excel crashes when using pull down bar

when I try to open my files from my network on a particular workstation,
using the pull down bar, it locks up the program. I installed this version
(2003) from my server. Any suggestions?

In Windows Explorer, Check whether there are any drive mappings set up which
are not functioning.
