I've got an annoying problem. When the 1.1 version of the .NET Framework was
released the other day, I immediately attempted to install it on all my
machines (2 machines at home and 2 machines at work). Both installs at home
worked flawlessly and one of the installs at work worked flawlessly.

On my main machine at work, however, the installer simply will not work. I
tried installing through Windows Update and it takes about 3 hours for the
progress bar to go from 0 to 100% when installing and then it just sits
there... never actually completing. All the time the progress bar is moving
(at a snail's pace) and after it is supposedly at 100%, the physical and
virtual memory of the setup process stays constant, there is no drive
activity and the process stays at 0% CPU.

Thinking that there may be a problem with the download, I manually
downloaded the SDK and tried installing... same thing exactly. I tried again
with the redistributable... same thing.

The only difference between this machine and the others that I can see is
that it's a dual processor machine. The system was wiped not that long ago
so it's not krufted up yet.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Better yet... anyone know how to work
around it?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if you've downloaded the bits off the 'Net. Occasionally, you
can pull them locally, burn onto CD, then install from there. I use that
method by default.
