OPS! Sorry for the previous encrypted message! SORRY!
First, what version of the Pocket PC OS are you running? 2000 or 2003?
Second, what version of Active Sync do you have installed?
Next, do you have a network connection on the device?
Last, how is your device connected to your desktop machine? USB using the cradle?
Can you open a new instance of VS and copy the contents of the output window to me after a failure?
Thanks,
Rich

> First, what version of the Pocket PC OS are you running? 2000 or 2003?
2002 English
iPAQ ROM Version 1.20
> Second, what version of Active Sync do you have installed?
Active Sync 3.6 (Build 2148)
> Next, do you have a network connection on the device?
What do you mean with "network Connection"?
> Last, how is your device connected to your desktop machine? USB using the
cradle?
The PPC is connected via USB to a laptop (Windows XP Professional English),
but not with the craddle,. with a cable that recharge the PPC directly from
the USB.
> Can you open a new instance of VS and copy the contents of the output
window to me after a failure?
Here it is!
------ Build started: Project: SmartDeviceApplication1, Configuration: Debug
Pocket PC ------
Preparing resources...
Updating references...
Performing main compilation...
Building satellite assemblies...
Visual Studio is ready to deploy SmartDeviceApplication1
------ Deploy started: Project: SmartDeviceApplication1, Configuration:
Debug Pocket PC ------
Deploying to Pocket PC Device using TCP Connect Transport
Error: Cannot establish a connection. Be sure the device is physically
connected to the development computer.
---------------------- Done ----------------------
Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped
Deploy: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped
You have to think also that in "Device Option" I cannot connect to the PPC.
The error is the same as shown above!
Thank You again
Best Regards
First, by network connection I mean an ethernet connection or wireless card connected to the device.
Next, are you certain that you have an Active Sync connection to the device before you attempt to deploy/debug? You should be able to view the files on the device using File Explorer if you are connected.
If you are in fact connected, can you take a look at your Connection Options?
1. Click on "Tools->Options->Device Tools->Devices"
2. You will want "Show Devices for Platform" to display "Pocket PC" and select Pocket PC Device
3. Now you should see "Transport," and "Startup Server"
4. Your Startup Server should be "ActiveSync Startup Provider" There should be no option to configure this
5. Your Transport should be "TCP Connect Transport"
6. Used Fixed TCP Port should NOT be selected
7. Device IP Address should have "Obtain an IP address Automatically using ActiveSync" selected.
8. You should not have "Use Specific IP Address" selected.
If all of this looks good, can you verify that you have a number of entries in your registry under this key:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\ProxyPorts"
You should see a number of entries looking something like "DeviceMDM00".
Another option is to navigate to the \windows directory on the device and delete ConManClient.exe and cmtnpt_tcpconnect.dll (you'll have to change the folder options to "see" DLLs), and then try again.
Can you let me know if any of this gets you moving?
Rich

Ok, No, I have not!

Yes, it is!

Done! All the things are exactly as you told!

Ok, I have from "DeviceMDM00" to "DeviceMDM31", and "Olrox" and "Puma".

There are none where you told.
> Can you let me know if any of this gets you moving?
Everything was as you said!
But still the same problems!
If I click "Connect" in the Option of VS2003 the result is:
CONNECTION FAILED
Cannot establish a connection. Be sure the device is phisically connected to
the development computer.
And Nothing moves!
:-(
Bye
Carlo
Do you still have the Cradle which came with the device? Can you try that out? If you can deploy and debug using the Cradle, that at least narrows down the problem.
In the mean time, I'll contact Product Service Support, and see if they have any info to share.
Don't give up yet!

I don't remember the name of the cable, but don't worry about it...
it is not the cable!!!!
It's one of the first test I made!
For Your Information, with eVb and eVc and all the applications that came
with the Embedded Visual Tools v 3.0 everything works fine, there are no
"Connection Problem" and the programs made with that kind of applications
are deployed correctly!

Carlo
Do you have access to the original cradle to attempt to deploy with?
Other than that, the next step would be to "hard" reset the device. Keep
in mind, this will erase all data and programs on the device.
Are you able to deploy and debug to the Emulator?

Done more than once!
I had to do it because of a screen problem on my iPAQ and it goes back to
Compaq.
I have tried with another iPAQ 3850, but nothing happens with this different
hardware!
:-(

My laptop is usually connected to a network that can go over internet by a
proxy server.
And it does not work.
At home I am connected to my network that is connected 24 hours to the net
And it does not work...
I don't know about a loopback adapter, but for the other things it works...
...but I have to specify you that nothing changed from the day everythings
worked to the day of the first failure!
Bye
Carlo
Any way to debug this or figure out the problem?
