Hey folks,

Quick question. I have 1000s of pictures that I've rated using Digital
Image where the ratings are stored in the files.

However when I open those same pictures (from a file share) in Vista the
Ratings are not imported. Can the ratings be imported?

I guess your best bet would be to install
Digital Image Suite on your Vista machine.
There is a Vista compatibility update for...
Digital Image Suite 2006:

MS Digital Image 2006
*Vista Compatibility* Update
http://tinyurl.com/w5u58
(this update is not required for the 2006
Anniversary Edition)

Some metadata...is not written back to the
image files. For info that cannot be written
back to the image files...Vista Photo Gallery
has a database called Pictures.pd4....

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
Windows Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd4

MS Digital Image also has one...I don't know
how or if it's even possible to combine them.

2006 Version:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\
Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\
POD\Pictures.pd3

DIP10 Version:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\
Application Data\Microsoft\POD\Pictures.pd2

DIP9 Version:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\
Application Data\Microsoft\POD\Pictures.pod

One more thought...

If you decide to install DIS on your Vista
Machine...it will create a new database...
'out of the box'...so to speak...

If you replace the new database file with
your old one...your metadata will return.
