We have a USB driver package we had qualified way back in mid 2005. It wasn't
logo'd; we just needed a signed device driver.

We now have a couple more devices serviced by the driver and wish so add
their IDs to the INF file, which of course invalidates that .cat file. Anyone
know if we can submit the old package with the new INF file and get an
updated .cat file without going through the logo program (which is the only
thing I see links to)? Paying the driver signing fee will be fine, I would
just really prefer not to have to go through the whole (NEW!) test cycle
again for an already qualified driver.

Thanks!

I know there is a shortcut program for exactly this case, but I do not know
if it applies clear back to Windows 2000. You need to contact WHQL about
this.

You have to go through DTM tests again even if there's been a single change
in the INF file. Note however there's no logo programme for w2k anymore, so
you have to submit a package for xp/vista to get a signature for 2k.

my comment is true if you change other stuff in the inf file as well, e.g.
changing the description strings, etc. There used to be a way (reseller
programme or similar name) for OEMs to update inf file only and not go
through the whole process again. this is what no longer exists.

There is a "DUA" (Driver Update Acceptable) program that would would have
done what we needed; to wit get a new cat file including the signature for
the updated .inf file. Sadly this program only applies to drivers submitted
after 7/15/2006 and ours predates that by a year and then some.

Bummer.

Thanks though.
