When one of our users, while in Outlook attempts to sellect track in CRM, he
receives the following error.

"An error occured promoting this item to Microsoft CRM. The CRM server
could not be contacted or the user has insufficient permissions to perform
the actions."

I then altered his permissions to ensure this was not the issue, he now gets
this error message.

"The user authentication passed to the platform is not valid."

Can anyone help, this user is suddenly unable to attach emails to contacts
or accounts.

The only time I've seen that error is when the user had been deleted (or
maybe it was disabled) in Active Directory.

Make sure that user is indeed in AD.

I have seen this one a couple times, most often it is users who have updated
their network login information and either XP or IE is still storing the old
data in relation to CRM. I would clear any .net passwords in the control
panel and clear all offline content out of IE and see if your still getting
the error.

Hi kristin..

This did the job for me just go to - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933234/
you just need to delete the temporary files. if you want - you can backup
the files before deleting.
