When I use the follow up feature to remind me to contact a sales lead on a
certain date it doesn't send me a reminder. Any ideas of what i am doing
wrong.

When you do a follow up it creates an activity, which should appear in
your open activities list.
If you are using Outlook integration then Outlook should (by default)
show a pop-up reminder, as for any Outlook task with a due date.

Does the activity show up in Outlook? Do you actually have Outlook
synchronising the relevant type of activity (task, appointment, whatever)?
