IE 8 and Windows Vista Pop-up Problem

Dear All,

I am having a problem with the only 3 Vista machines we have. We are using
CRM 4 with Update Rollup 5.

The problem we are having is that if you open, for example, an account form
and then select one of the Lookup fields - for example Parent Account, and
the from the Lookup Records Screen Select the New Button we receive the
following message:

A Microsoft Dynamics CRM window was unable to open, and may have been
blocked by a pop-up blocker. Please add this Microsoft Dynamics CRM server to
the list of sites your pop-up blocker allows to open new windows:
server.domain.com

I have reset the internet explorer settings, I have also enabled protected
mode on intranet and trusted sites. I've exluded this from the pop-up
blocker, and added it to the compatibility list. There is no other pop-up
blocker enable on any of the computers having this problems. This does not
happen on XP with IE8, nor only vista machines in any other situation we have
come across other than this.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Does anyone have a resolution??

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your reply! I had tried that already as we did have that problem
to start off with. However, no we only get the problem when we navigate more
than 2 forms deep. For example, logging in to crm is fine, opening Accounts
is fine, clicking parent account is fine, but click New in that window it
gets blocked by the 'pop-up blocker' which is turned off!

Any other ideas??

Check to see if the user has any addons for IE8 such as Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, or Bing Toolbar. If so disable them. If not then do what the previous link advised, but you have to check the box for protected mode for all 4 zones. If that doesnt work, uncheck each zone and then restarte IE. Go back into the security tab and rechech them all and try again. I have been having this problem at my company and this works 99% of the time. Hope this helps!
