CRM 3.0 fails on Outlook 2003 after installing Office Update

I have a workstation that is running Office 2003 Professional with the CRM
Outlook Laptop client. Outlook and the CRM client were working fine until an
update was installed for office. Now I get this error when Outlook is
started:

An error occurred loading Microsoft CRM functionality.

Try restarting Microsoft Outlook.

Contact your system administrator if error persists.

We have tried the following different thing to no avail.

Reinstall CRM client.

Uninstall CRM client, repair Office, install CRM client.

Uninstall CRM client, uninstall Office, install Office, install CRM client.

The CRM toolbar and other settings are then disabled in Outlook.

I do not know what updates were installed, but was told that one of them
failed the first time it was tried. I have other workstations that Office
does not show that it needs any updates, so I would assume that it is not a
problem with the actual update.

I have no idea if this will help but here is how to enable client level
tracing

Here are the keys for the client platform tracing.
Create the following registry keys in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient

TraceEnabled [dword] - Set the value to 1
TraceDirectory [string] - Set the value to (choose your directory)
"Directory must be created for it to work."
TraceCategories [string] - Set the value to *:Verbose
TraceCallStack [dword] - Set the value to Off
TraceRefresh [dword] - Set the value to 1
TraceSchedule [string] - Set the value to "Hourly"

Please note that tracing will impact performance and should be turned off
when not needed. To turn tracing off Set the TraceEnabled key to 0.

Here are the keys for the server platform tracing.
Create the following registry keys in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM

This is from one attempt of Outlook to access CRM. There is not such folder
as "c:\crmv3rtm" on any of the workstations that do and do not work. I have
just installed it on another workstation and am having the same problem.

I am having the same problem. Turned on the tracing (Appended to post below.)

Has anybody had any luck this?

NOTES:
1. Installs successfully.
2. Outlook connects over a WAN to an Exchange Server - hence CRM Server is
also over the WAN.
